Birthday Experiment
With the quality and integrity of our site I'd like to think that we attract the reader with a slightly higher than average intelligence factor, and for that reason I am would like to try this little statistical experiment. I must point out that I am relying on you guys to get off you lazy 4rses and leave a comment! otherwise there will be nothing but desolate, abject, pitiful (and slightly embarrassing) failure. We don't care who you are, whether you're regular visitor or a first timer, just feel free to join in.
Question: How many people do you need to gather before there is a greater than 50% chance that any two of those people will share a birthday?
50? 100? 364? 1000? The answer to this question may surprise you and I will endeavour to give it in the next few posts. OK, now click where it says "Comments" at the end of this post and (if the comment system is actually working) leave your birthday. We don't need your year of birth, nor do we want your name if you don't want to give it... we just want your birthday; be honest, and leave just one post. Whilst you scroll down the list check it out for people who may already have left the same date as you and perhaps append your post with something like "Woo! I share a birthday with xxx".
